This Training Module, co-taught by Leslie Pearlman and Denise Hopkins (THE "Injury Whisperer"), is designed for yoga instructors who want to deepen their understanding of anatomy through a hands-on, experiential approach so their classes are safe, healing, and pain-free (bye-bye feeling like an imposter).
This is a learn-by-feeling training where we explore the body from the inside out.
Gain a practical and intuitive understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, and common injuries so you can teach 100% confident that your classes are as safe as they are transformative.
Here is our approach:
- Therapy Ball Rolling for Body Mapping: Learn to feel the body's musculature, fascia, and joint structures. By applying pressure through rolling, gain real-time feedback about tension patterns, areas of restriction, and where injuries may commonly arise.
- Therapy Ball Rolling for Muscle and Fascia Exploration: Target key muscle groups and fascia lines, learn the functions of the tissues, and feel how these structures operate in the body.
- Therapy Ball Rolling for Sensory Awareness and Proprioception: Tune into sensory feedback and develop a heightened awareness of joint mobility, muscle length, and overall body mechanics.
- Deconstruct the Most Common Yoga Poses to Understand Functional Anatomy: Explore the most common yoga poses as a framework for understanding the mechanics of movement, alignment, and injury prevention. Study how different muscle groups engage, stretch, and stabilize the body.
- Active Application of Anatomy: Break down key yoga poses to identify which muscles are lengthening, contracting, or stabilizing. Demystify how the body functions as an integrated system.
- Injury Awareness: Understand common yoga-related injuries (e.g., rotator cuff strain, lower back pain), what to avoid, and how to get your student out of pain and heal.
- Safety Protocol Checklist: Check all the boxes so you can safely teach when students have an injury, challenge, or limitation, without getting flustered.
- Somatic Learning: We use an embodied approach (feeling it in your body) so you understand the relationship between structural alignment, functional movement, and injury prevention from a somatic approach.
- Integration into Teaching: Learn how to translate this embodied knowledge into teaching cues, class themes, and injury modifications for students of all levels.
